About this Blog

Part journaling, part what Scott Russell Sanders says of essays as "letters to the world," I write on a bit of everything, though everything for me comes back around to writing and literature. I hope it can become more than just a conversation with myself, and I welcome comments and reflections should the subjects on which I post find fertile ground for others.

Confluence:

a flowing together of two or more streams, rivers, or the like;
a coming together of people or things; concourse;

several years ago, backpacking in Canyonlands, my oldest daughter and I hiked to the confluence of the Green and Colorado rivers; we stood on the canyon rim, the sheer cliff dropping hundreds of feet to the river confluence, and there as distinct as a line in a coloring book was the visible point where the red of the Colorado and the truly green Green met, then melted together and flowed downstream in unison.
